Libya Frees Plane Hijackers Women And Children

Newsmoved: A Libyan passenger plane landed in Malta due hijacked. Incidents experienced airline Afriqiyah Airways iron bird carrying about 118 people was in the middle of the domestic flights.

However, an official of Afriqiyah Airways said the two hijackers had expressed willingness to release the passengers, but continued to hold the pilot and crew. Prime Minister of Malta, Jospeh Muscat, has confirmed that 25 passengers had been freed. Through his Twitter account, he said that the first group released consisted of women and children. Later, as reported by CNN, 109 passengers were released.

Muscat said the security forces have been deployed at the airport. Meanwhile the deputy mayor of Lija in Malta, Madga Magri Naudi, said that the hijackers have not submitted a claim.

"The pirates have not submitted a claim. That is the problem, we do not know what they want right now," said Naudi. Naudi added, paramedics and soldiers were estimating the next steps to respond to these conditions.

"A special committee meeting underway to resolve the situation," said Naudi. As a result of the incident, according to the airport's website, several flights have been diverted to Catania Fontanarossa Airport in Italy. While Malta International Airport was closed for a while.
