Hijackers Threaten Blast Libyan Transport Aircraft 118 People

Newsmoved: Libyan plane hijacking incident has been confirmed by authorities. A total of 118 people are in forced domestic flight emergency landing at Malta International Airport.

According to preliminary reports, Afriqiyah Airways Airbus A320 flying in the airspace of Libya were transferred.
There were two hijackers involved in the incident. They threatened to blow up the plane. Afriqiyah Airways plane was a route from Sabha, a town in southwest Libya, to the capital, Tripoli.

"Security forces have been deployed at the airport," said Prime Minister of Malta, Joseph Muscat as quoted by the BBC, Friday (12/23/2016).

"The pirates have not made a demand. Demand has not made this is a problem. We do not know what they demand today," said deputy mayor Lija in Malta, Madga Magri Naudi.

Darrin Zammit Lupi, Reuters news agency photographer based in Malta, told the BBC he had seen a number of special forces troops and vehicles at the scene.
Magri Naudi said paramedics and soldiers were forecast next steps related to the condition. "A special committee meeting underway to resolve the situation," added Naudi.

As a result of the incident, according to the airport's website, several flights have been diverted to Catania Fontanarossa Airport in Italy. While Malta International Airport was closed for a while. Party airfield also said emergency teams had been alerted.

Earlier, PM Muscat reported that the alleged plane emergency landing in Malta experienced a potential hijacking.
"There are situations potentially hijack a plane from Libya internal flights being diverted to Malta. The security forces and the emergency operation is underway," wrote the Prime Minister of Malta, Joseph Muscat via his personal Twitter account reported by CNN.

In another tweet he said that the plane was carrying 111 passengers, including one infant. Another seven crew.
